This T-Shirt is an homage to one of LA’s weirdest incidents, the Battle of Los Angeles. In 1942, during WW2, a war-nervous Los Angeles called for an air raid that turned out to be a false alarm. There was city-wide blackouts, raid sirens blaring, and high caliber machine guns shooting towards the sky. Immediately afterwards, a statement was issued that it was all a false alarm and the alert was called due to pure anxiety. The next day, the incident was all over the newspapers, including this photo taken from The Los Angeles Times’ front page story about the incident.
